thanks for this. i’ve been through quite a lot of trauma in the last 5 years and the flashbacks were finally under control. i’ve worked really hard to get to a better place.
now i don’t have any control over my emotions or reactions. between the election and the endless damage from recent storms it’s more overwhelming than i can currently handle.
Thank you for having the courage to share this. Your experience of working hard to get flashbacks under control, only to feel destabilized by current events, resonates deeply.
It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when facing both personal challenges and broader turbulence beyond your control.
Sometimes I have to try to isolate what is truly going on and tell myself that, because this happened doesnt have an impact on everything that occured in my life.
I have spent enormous amount of time in a head space that was not good. Only recently have I been able to look on it now and start connecting dots.
1. what was it that got me to this place (usually a lot of different things)
2. How are they connected
3. Where has it lead me
4. What one small step can I take to change the place I am today to where I want to be tomorrow.
It's strange I normally discount the small step. But now I tell my self. Well its better than what I was doing yesterday. (almost daily)
